Background, Aims and Objectives, Structure and Activities
The Fourah Bay College Alumni Association is a non-profit making, educational, social and development-oriented organisation of alumni of Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leoene.
The association's principal purpose is to maintain alumni interest and active involvement in efforts to advance the development of Fourah Bay College in particular and the University of Sierra Leone and the country in general.
It's administrative and other major developmental functions are carried out through an executive committee mad up of a President, secretary, public relations officer, treasurer, four region al chairmen representing the Western, Eastern, Northern and Southern Provinces of Sierra Leone and with many other sub-committees. The association also has active branches in Nigeria, the United Kingdom and United States of America.
Over its period of existence, the association has been very instrumental in spearheading significant developmental projects for both Fourah Bay College and the country including its continued financial support to students through its scholarship programmes, the rehabilitation of major infrastructure of Fourah Bay College e.g. the Kennedy Building, the promotion of awareness building and fund raising activities such as alumni night and its public workshops and seminars on issues addressing the development agenda of the University of Sierra Leone and the country. But we need to do more in terms of institution building and the repairs of structures affected by the devastation resulting from the war as an immediate imperative and to proactively improve on the profile of the Alumni Association by inviting suggestions on projects directed towards its objectives.
Appeal To All Alumni To Contribute To The Rehabilitation and Development of Fourah bay College and Sierra Leone
Against the background of the extensive destruction and disruption caused at Fourah Bay College and in the country by the rebel war, the association is kindly appealing to all alumni including those inside and outside the country to make generous contributions to the rehabilitation of the College. Your active participation in this direction will in no small way enhance the efforts that have been made to promote the development agenda of Fourah Bay College and the country.
