Brief History

The Old Fourah Bay College at Cline Town in Freetown.
Fourah Bay College was founded by the Church Missionary Society, London,
for the purpose of training Africans as schoolmasters, catechists and clergymen.
The establishment
of FBC was intended, to provide its pupils with opportunities to obtain training in basic skills and also to
train its pupils who displayed the requisite aptitude as teachers and priests.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
A variety of Students' Clubs organised under the aegis of the Students Union provide many opportunities for recreation.
SPORTS FACILITIES
Facilities exist for Athletics, Football, Netball, Cricket, Volley Ball, Lawn Tennis and Table Tennis.
RELIGIOUS SERVICES
Facilities exist for Protestant, Roman Catholic and Muslim worship. The College
Chaplain and Roman Catholic Priest provide religious guidance to all Christian students.
MEDICAL SERVICES
The College Medical Officers, assisted by the nursing staff, attend to the health of students and staff.
College Sick Quarters include a small ward. Hospital facilities for more serious cases are available in Freetown.
HALLS OF RESIDENCE
There are Halls of residence for both men and women students. The Halls are under the supervision of Hall Wardens who are responsible to the Warden of Students.
Facilities for residence in College during the Christmas and Easter vacations are limited. Permission to remain in the College during these vacations is given by the
Warden of Students.
Hostels
No student may remain in residence during the Long Vacation.
Residence in College out of term is charged at a rate per day which is determined from time to time and the full amount to cover the period of such residence is payable in advance.
Such period of residence must normally be at least one whole week.
